For EU-funded PCHR, “Resistance” takes precedence over the Rights of Women

Yesterday, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) put out a statement in honor of International Women’s Day. Predictably, the statement solely blames Israel for the suffering of women in Gaza and calls on the international community to hold Israel “accountable”. PCHR includes one sentence at the end of the lengthy statement claiming that “Palestinian women continue to face systematic discrimination and violations within their own society which also need to be addressed urgently.” I guess PCHR doesn’t consider honor killings, polygamy, the use of human shields by Hamas, the commandeering by Hamas of humanitarian aid intended for women and children, recruiting children for terrorist activity, and attacks on Christian women to be problems that “need to be addressed urgently”. PCHR doesn’t mention them at all in its statement, nor does it call on the international community to hold the Hamas leadership “accountable” for these violations. So much for the rights of women . . .
