January 31st, 2008 by Shlomo Lockerman | Category: Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, NGO Monitor

This Monday, January 28, NGO Monitor published a report outlining Ford Foundation funding. The report demonstrates that, despite post-Durban policies against the funding of radical NGOs, the Ford Foundation has continued funding groups who exploit human rights rhetoric.

Tuesday, January 29, NGO Monitor published an analysis of Human Rights Watch response to the crisis in Gaza. This analysis shows how Human Rights Watch has creating a moral muddle “that further undermines the universality of human rights.”

This week NGO Monitor also highlighted NGO related articles:

Sunday, January 27, Charles Jacobs wrote an article continuing a discussion with Amnesty international as to how best respond to the upcoming Durban 2001 follow-up conference (Durban II).

Monday, January 28, Abraham Bell weighed in on the debate regarding Israel’s international law responsibilities on obligations. In this article he specifically addresses the current situation in Gaza.

Tuesday, January 29, Ronan Farrow spoke out against the UN Human Rights Council. Farrow points the ways in which the council has single-mindedly criticized Israel and avoided dealing with most human rights issues in the world today.

Also on Tuesday, January 29, UN Watch published a response to the UN High Commissioner on Human Rights about the endorsement of the Arab charter on Human Rights which includes anti-Semitic provisions.
